Fred and Mary Catalano - AKA John's Mom and Dad
|
This page is dedicated to my Mother and Father, Fred and Mary Catalano. Mom and Dad live in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. Indian Harbour is a good town, but it's no Satellite Beach. The waves are consistently smaller and the Indian Harbour surfer-geeks can barely stand up on their boards (okay, maybe I'm a little partial to Satellite Beach...) Fred Catalano honorably served our country in World War II, and then participated in the rebuilding of Japan before becoming a rocket scientist. Fred has launched more Titan missiles than anyone. Mary Catalano launched three wonderful kids, a success that is rarely matched in motherhood. Mom and Dad love golf, tennis, working out at the gym, and especially walking the beach.
That's a good Greek girl for you!!! Papu would have been very proud of that fish.
Dad is decended from Vito and Roma Catalano who came through Ellis Island to make a better life in the United States, initially settling in Boston. Very early in Dad's life, Vito took off leaving a brave Roma to raise 5 children, Dad being the youngest. Without getting too detailed, Roma moved the family to San Diego, CA. Mom is decended from James and Mary Kranides who escaped Turkish persecution and also came through Ellis Island. James and Mary, affectionately known to us as Yiaya and Papu, settled in Cleveland, Ohio. Here is a wonderful picture of Roma Catalano and Mary Kranides:
What wonderful grandmothers!!!
Mom and Dad Catalano travel extensively, so much so that it is hard for us kids to keep up with them (I wonder if there is a plan, there...). Here are some pic's of their recent travels.
Come back soon, there'll certainly be more to Come... |
